People power our purpose beyond boots

In many rural communities across Vietnam, women form the backbone of household economies. They farm, manage finances, raise children and, increasingly, seek opportunities to build independent sources of income. Yet access to capital, training, and business networks remains limited.

Over the past few years, Viet Thang have launched a series of programs aimed at supporting women-led micro-enterprises in nearby villages.

The initiative includes financial assistance for early-stage projects, skills training, and one-on-one mentorship for women looking to start or scale small businesses. Beneficiaries range from a cooperative producing cacao-based products to a group of women reviving traditional textile crafts, and even local entrepreneurs developing agricultural side businesses.

Each project is monitored closely to ensure long-term sustainability. Participants receive training in product development, bookkeeping, digital literacy and market access. Many have since expanded operations, created additional jobs, and become role models in their communities.

By providing practical tools rather than one-time support packages, Viet Thang aims to strengthen the economic independence of rural women and contribute to a more inclusive local economy.

As global manufacturing continues to evolve, Viet Thang’s approach reflects a broader shift among Vietnamese enterprises: integrating community development into core business operations. For women in the Central Highlands, it represents not only a financial opportunity, but a pathway to greater agency and long-term stability.

Where others perceive waste, we identify potential. In our facility, discarded plastic, rubber, and old boots do not signify the conclusion of a product's lifecycle; rather, they mark the inception of something more significant.

Each month, we systematically gather used safety boots and industrial offcuts from various locations across Vietnam. These materials undergo a meticulous process of sorting and cleaning before being repurposed into valuable products such as safe playground surfaces for children, durable rubber mats for agricultural workers, or even reprocessed into new boots, each carrying a unique narrative.

Our commitment extends beyond mere recycling. We actively collaborate with rural communities and local scrap collectors, fostering micro-economies that incentivize environmental stewardship. Our upcycling laboratory is driven by data, innovation, and an unwavering belief in the potential for renewal in both materials and individuals.

This is not merely waste management; it is impact manufacturing. Every kilogram of discarded material we reclaim represents a step towards a circular future for Vietnam and the world.
